Child Dies After Swallowing Gas
Diana Louise Bowcutt, two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Bowcutt, 433 1/2 Maple St., died at a local hospital Tuesday night after swallowing gasoline earlier in the evening.
Attendants at the hospital said the child swallowed the gasoline about 6:45 p.m. near the family home. She was rushed to the hospital where she died at 8:30 p.m.
Parents told hospital attendants Diana drank the gasoline from a drinking glass which the child had found around the family home.
A physician attending the child said the child's stomach had been emptied of the gasoline, but he believed some of the gasoline had gotten into the girl's lungs, causing her breathing to malfunction.
Diana was born Oct. 17, 1953, at Modesto, Calif. She is survived in addition to her parents by a sister, Debra Lee, a grandfather, William l. Bowcutt, Idaho Falls; a step-grandmother, Mrs. Cord Rose, San Francisco, and a great-grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Thompson, Imperial Valley, Calif.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Wood Funeral Home.
