Orpha served in Germany and Greece with MCC, 1957-64
Zimmerly spent time at Karlschule, Frankfurt and Bad Durkheim, Germany, from 1957-64, and also spent time in Aridea, Greece, 1961, and Crete, 1961-62, at a school for boys.

Earlier she had been dean of women at Hesston College, 1946-55, and at the bookstore in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, 1955-57. She returned to Hesston College, 1964 - 1971, and then retired to Showalter Villa in Hesston, 1971 - 1980.

There is an Orpha Zimmerly Scholarship Fund at Hesston College.
