COCHRAN - Melbra Jane Mickel, age 50, died Monday, June 8, 2009, in the Regency Hospital in Macon. Funeral services are Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial is Zion Hope Baptist Cemetery in Dodge County.
Mrs. Mickel, born February 20, 1959, was the daughter of the late Wade Melvin Coleman and was preceded in death by her daughter Maranda Hope Mickel and her sister Cathy Coleman. She received her Masters in Education from Georgia Southwestern University and worked as an educator for Bleckley County Middle School for seventeen years and later retired due to illness.
Survivors are her children, Amy Michelle Mickel and Hal J. (Ashley) Mickel, Jr.of Cochran; her mother, Betty Hanson of McRae; her sisters, Melanie (Robert) Dover of Dublin and Paulette (Terry) Brown of Lumber City; three grandchildren, Harley Devon Jones, Brice Berryhill and Drew Sykes and her beloved pet "Cutie".
