Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 o'clock in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church at Mayville for John O. Aasen of that city who died at the Union hospital last Sunday. Rev. A. Storry will officiate and burial will be in the Norwegian Lutheran cemetery north of Hatton.
Mr. Aasen had been in ill health for several years and was a hospital patient for the past two months.
John O. Aasen was born March 28, 1872 in Trondhjem, Norway, and came to America in 1893, settling near Hatton. He was married in 1910 to Emma Aasen of Hatton, who preceded him in death in 1929. He then moved to Mayville where he resided until 1947 and since had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Alvin (Alvina) Balken of rural Buxton.
Other survivors include another daughter, Mrs. B. M. (Alice) Skrivseth of Minneapolis and eight grandchildren. – Hatton Free Press, Jan. 29, 1953
