It also shows his younger brother, Thomas, was born in Alabama about 1841; therefore, the family must have moved to Alabama about 1840-1841. In 1850 the family lived in Dale County, Alabama. In 1860 Green was listed as age 19 living in Chipola, Henry, Alabama, with his parents, Henry & Gemima Richards. According to the census records, he came from a family of 10 children:
