Children (by first marriage): Thomas Avery Jr (father of Ann Avery Griffin Miner), Samuel Avery (father of Althea Avery Allyn), an infant daughter, Ephraim Avery (husband of Abigail Mason Avery), Hannah Avery Minor, and Abraham Avery.

Children (by second marriage): Joshua Avery, Mary Avery Baker, Elizabeth Avery Baldwin (mother of Mary Baldwin Avery), Jonathan Avery (husband of Elizabeth Waterman Avery and father, by his second wife, of Lucy Latham Avery Gilkey, David Avery, Uriah Avery, and Olive Avery Adams), Charles Avery, Isaac Avery (father of Daniel Avery), and Peter Avery.

Note: Some records have the birth and death location as Montville, CT. However, Montville was not incorporated as a separate town from New London until 1786.

The picture attached to this memorial appears to be a cenotaph, at least for Christopher, James and Thomas. It is unlikely that Thomas is actually buried here since he lived his entire life in New London, New London County, CT.
