John H. Schumacher, 74, Rt. 4, died in Mercy Hospital last night after a short illness.
He was born in Rock County Sept. 14, 1893, and lived in the county all of his life. He was married to Marguerite Tobin Nov. 24, 1920, in St. Mary Catholic Church. Until retiring Oct. 1, 1964, he was employed for 41 years in the Chevrolet plant's truck line and maintenance department. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Robert and Paul, and two daughters, Margaret Schumacher and Mrs. Paul Rosen, all of Janesville; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Sebian and Mrs. John Kennedy, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Tom Frusher and Mrs. Mary Hogan, Janesville; and two brothers, Henry and Corniel, Janesville.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Nelson-Schneider Funeral Home and at 10 o'clock in St. William Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
