Thus, on January 1, 1939, he joined the branch office of Jehovah's Witnesses in Australia. Although the government banned the work of Jehovah's Witnesses in Australia, he continued his work in the public ministry, office work, and helped in writing material for the encouragement of fellow believers. In February 1942, he married his wife, Melba, and they continued serving their God, Jehovah. They attended the 11th class of the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead, where they were assigned as foreign missionaries to Japan. They served in Japan for the next 25 years until he was appointed to serve on the Governing Body in 1975. He delivered numerous talks for the encouragement of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide. He died in 1999 while he was giving a talk in the Hawaiian Islands.
