William Lloyd Barry, a long time member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, died suddenly on July 2, 1999, while giving a public address at a district convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hawaii.

He was born Dec. 20, 1916 in New Zealand. Being raised in a Christian household, he decided to take up the fulltime ministry. Thus, on Jan. 1, 1939, he joined the branch office of Jehovah's Witnesses in Australia. Although the goverment banned the work of Jehovah's Witnesses in Australia, he continued his work in the public ministry, office work, and helped in writing material for the encouragement of fellow believers.

In Feb. 1942, he married his wife, Melba, and they continued serving their God, Jehovah. They attended the 11th class of the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead, where they were assigned as foreign missionaries to Japan. They served in Japan for the next 25 years until he was appointed to serve on the Governing Body in 1975.
He delivered numerous talks for the encouragement of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide.

"You are my witnesses, is the utterance of Jehovah, even my servant whom I have chosen." Isa. 43:10
