Mr. Champion, 61, died Sunday, August 28, 2005 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Funeral service is 11 AM Thursday, September 1, at the Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville, FL. Interment will be in Aaran Annex Cemetery.

Mr. Champion was born in Chicago, IL, and was a resident of Crawfordville since moving from North Carolina in 1985. He was a mobile mechanic.

He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12.

Mr. Champion was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 7 years, Deborah Champion; son, John R. Champion, Jr.; stepsons, Christopher C. Morris and Timothy L. Morris; daughters, Leslie Champion and Celeste Edwards; five grandchildren; and a host of other family members.

Mr. Champion is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Champion.

Memorials may be made to the U.S. Coast Guard Aux. Flotilla 12.
