The funeral services of Mr. J.P. Jacobsen, of near Norman, was held last Thursday afternoon from the Smith
Funeral Home, the Rev. Carl Hassel, of the Swedish Lutheran Church conducting the service. Burial was made
in the Norman Cemetery.
Jens Peter Jacobsen was born in Hordum, Denmark, June 22, 1871, and came to an untimely death on August
29, 1932, at the age ofsixty-one years, two months and seven days. In his youth he was baptized and confirmed
in the Lutheran faith.
He came to America in 1889 and married Mary Christene Larsen on March 6, 1897, in Leadville, Colorado. In
June of the same year they moved to Minden, Nebraska, and resided near here on a farm for two years, moving
to South Omaha in 1900, and living there for two years. In 1902 they moved to Seneca, Nebraska, on a
homestead where they lived for twenty one years, coming to their farm northwest of Norman in 1923, where
they have resided since.
Four children were born to this union, Edgar, of Woodlake, Nebraska, and Albert, Mrs. W.G. Nielsen and Mrs.
Harry Bergsten, all of Norman.
His mother Mrs. Jacob Jensen preceded him in death March 24, 1930, and his father, August 22, 1931. One
brother, Jens, passed away in 1900.
Besides his wife and children he is survived by seven brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Martin Larsen, of Minden;
Niels, of Brookings, South Dakota; Willis, of Arlington, South Dakota; Christen, of South Omaha; Pier of
Omaha; Mrs. Soren Christensen of Minden; John, of Dunning and Carl, of Minden, also eleven grand children
and many other relatives and a host of friends.
He was a kind and loving husband and father, and a helpful neighbor, honest and industrious, and his passing was
a great loss to the immediate family and the entire community.
