PRESQUE ISLE — Rodney F. Black, 83, died Nov. 9, 2001, at aPresque Isle healthcare facility.

He was born July 30, 1918, in Belfast, the son of Freeman and Hattie Black.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599 VFW. He was a member of Presque Isle Country Club and the Lions Club. Mr. Black had been employed by ABC Bakery, Craft Food, Hedrich's Company and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Black of Presque Isle; two sons, Bruce Black of San Diego, Calif. and Joe Black of Monticello; two daughters, Bette Carney of Mapleton and Roxie Black of Cumberland, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Fairmount Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. A reception will follow at the home of Bette Carney, 1065 Grendell Rd., Chapman.
