Son of the late Thomas Grady Barksdale and Minnie Mae Elam Barksdale, he was the widower of Ada Inez Tolley (married on March 26, 1946, in Gibson County, TN). He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Point, MS. He was the owner of Barksdale Chevron Service Station. He was survived by one daughter, Dianne Henry and her husband, Dale; sister, Katherine Roeand an extended family of three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. His funeral was held June 7, 2006, with The Rev. Don Bishop and The Rev. James Towery officiating. Pallbearers were Dale Henry, Chris Henley, Corey Cantrell, Tommy Barksdale, Danny Tolley and Steve Roe.
