Thomas Andrew Patterson was the son of Andrew Patterson and Mary Taylor.

Thomas joined the Confederate artillery division Company D of the 1st Regiment, Mississippi Light Artillery. Records show he was a member of Robert E Lee Camp of United Confederate Veterans in Forth Worth and received 3 bullet wounds.

He married Mary Renfro August 31, 1865. The 1900 census record list 9 births, 5 living, including Charlie Albert Patterson b 1866. Mary died in 1904 and Thomas married 2nd Lucinda Jane Blevins in 1905.
