Frances Noble is BELIEVED to be the daughter of John Noble (died 1752 in Augusta Co., Virginia with a will & survey book 1, p 77.) and possibly a Mary Calhoun who resided on Buffalo Creek, a branch of the James River, not far from the Natural Bridge, in current Rockbridge Co. (then in Augusta Co.). She married Samuel McCutcheon (McCutchan, McCutchen) in Augusta Co., Virginia. I have seen her name also listed as Jeanette or Nettie, but never seen a source of documentation for it. They had 6 known children: Charles, William, John, Margaret, Capt. SAMUEL and James. My later lines all used McCutchan on their gravestones, but they all work. It is believed she is the sister of John Noble.

She is listed on the monument, beside her husband Samuel and a John. It says: FRANCES NOBLE McCUTCHEON, 1715 - 1790.

Their son Capt. Samuel McCUTCHEN is also on this monument with once again a different spelling.

I am not sure that the years of birth on the monument are accurate for both Frances and Samuel (and some others). Despite the differing dates their coupledom and children are well documented.

Sadly, in 1911 the remaining gravestones at North Mountain were used as part of the concrete foundation of the (then) owner's barn nearby. How could they? The Bethel Presbyterian Church put up the existing monument at the North Mountain site in the 1980's. The North Mountain Meeting House members went on to create Bethel Presbyterian Church.

Her marker was not included in the 12 Aug 1936 WPA Inventory by Scioto M. Herndon, but it is documented here. It may be part of the barn foundation nearby. :(
