In 1963 he moved his family to Southern Calif from Sioux City, IA, where he had lived all of his life to find a better way of life. Originally settled in Orange, CA but after only 6 months they purchased their first home in Stanton, CA. There they raised the last five of their eight children. He started his own business, a janitorial service for many of the St. George's Smorgesboard restaurants in Orange and L.A. counties. In 1982 they had sold the residence and moved to Riverside, CA on small acre home and began to do what he always wanted to do, become somewhat a retired farmer. He raised geese, pigs, calves,chicken and rabbits. He was a horseman also and had a few horses to go ridding and he finally got himself a mule for fun. His children and grandchildren love to come and spend time with him and he was so proud of his large family. At the time of his death he only had 33 grandchildren and 5 great. He now has 35 grandchildren, 66 great and 8 great great children as of today.8/27/16
