Henry Burgard's father, Frederick, came from Mecklenberg, Germany. His mother came from Spoitgendorf, East Germany. They came in 1860 to Michigan where they settled. Their children were: Louie, Henrietta, Carolina, Heinrich, William, Ann and Phoebe.
Henry as well as others of the family, left home for other parts. He, With his brother, Louie, had farms to the north and east of Bloomfield.
In 1896, Henry married Anna Volkers in Iowa. With their three children, Delbert (Dora Moeller), Edwin (Clara Dieckman), and Lawrence (Louise Lowin), they moved to the farm near Bloomfield. Later Cora (Ernest Winters), Lillian (Lee Rickers), Roy (Henrietta Hamloth) and Amy (George Lukens) were born.
Henry passed away September 1, 1939 and Anna on January 21, 1963.
