He married Thursey Malinda Whitlock 12 Apr 1861 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were the parents of twelve children: Hannah Caroline, Thursa Malinda, Lewis Adelbert, Charles Andrew, Mary Angeline, Minnie Virginia, Annie May & Adelbert Ray, Elizabeth Vilate, Sanford Ross, Kisty Evelyne, Edna Myrtle Larsen.

Lewis practiced polygamy and was also married to Maren Margarette Christensen Larson, with whom he had eight children: James Ole, Angelia Mariah, Rasmus C., Azelia C., George Warren, Lew Zina, David C. & Master Larsen.

Lewis & his 2nd wife both died and are buried in Eprhaim, Sanpete, Utah.
