Cashmere

Carrie A. Sutton passed away on Nov. 21, 2001 at the Cashmere Convalescent Center in Cashmere.

She was born July 5, 1900 to Conrad C. and Hattie Gordon in Kingston. She attended a country school there. She moved to Seattle and attended business school and later worked for Sears and Roebuck.

Later, she moved to Prosser and helped on a family dry-land farm in the Horse Heaven Hills. While there, she met and married Basil C. Sutton on May 1, 1919. She loved and treasured him for her entire life.

After the depression of 1929, they moved to the old town of Entiat, which is now under water, where her husband worked as a state fruit inspector and she was a mother and homemaker.

In 1938, they moved to Cashmere, where they lived the rest of their lives.

After her husband's death in 1951, she worked at the old Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee for five years. She also worked for many years as a fruit packer at Blue Star Warehouse and Cashmere Fruit Exchange, retiring in 1971.

Carrie was a member of the Cashmere Order of the Eastern Star and Cashmere Orthopedic.

She is survived by one daughter, Gerri Kern and husband Edward of Wenatchee, one son, Noel "Gus" Sutton and wife Pat of Cashmere, three granddaughters, Linda (Pietz) Lennon of Sedro Woolley, Sandy (Pietz) Moehring of Issaquah and Judy (Sutton) Hambly of Cashmere, three great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter.

Her beloved husband, Basil C. Sutton, preceded her in death in 1951. Four brothers, three sisters, one stepbrother and one stepsister also preceded her in death.

At her request, there will be a Graveside Service for family and friends at the Cashmere Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001.

"God Bless this mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."

Arrangements are in the care of Braun Funeral Home of Cashmere.
