The Charleston papers announce the death of the Hon. James R. Pringle. Mr. Pringle was formerly President of the Senate of South Carolina, and at the time of his death, he was Collector of the Port of Charleston.

Firmness, Probity and Honor Characterized him through life, and in all its duties and relations He maintained a strict regard for the pinciples and obligations of Christian morality. Elected to high Offices both in this State and City, He discharged them with a fidelity and usefulness that commanded the confidence and respect of his fellow citizens in social and domestic life he was most beloved by those who knew him best.
