The Becker-Kunkel Wedding.

The wedding of Miss Elizabeth M. Becker daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Becker of America township and Mr. John E. Kunkel which occurred on Thursday was among the largest weddings ever held in this county and the size of the wedding denotes the wide circle of friends who are extending their congratulations to the happy couple who are so popular in this locality.

The wedding took place at St. Joseph's church on Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock the services being pronounced by Rev. Father F. X. Feuerstein in the presence of the members of the families and the invited guests. The bride was attended by Miss Josephine Nothem and the best man was John E. Becker, a brother of the bride. The wedding party drove to the Becker home after the ceremony where the happy event in the lives of the young people were duly celebrated. Scores of guests had already arrived at the Becker home and they extended their most hearty congratulations to the young people. At 12:30 the wedding breakfast was served to the family and about 100 invited guests. The wedding feast was served in a huge tent and even that was taxed to accommodate the large crowd which was there to celebrate . In the afternoon a second feast was at five o'clock and it was 9:30 before the last guest was served.

The afternoon was more especially the old folks hours at the celebration while the evening was, by common consent, given over to the younger crowd though all of the old folks who stayed were made to feel that time had not left many wrinkles upon the feature nor, slowed their footsteps for all took part in the festivities.

The the afternoon and evening were devoted to dancing, music and feasting and between four and five hundred paid their respects to the young people during the day and evening. The large barn was fitted up for dancing and the dancing continued until after day light. The other buildings were devoted the the card players and other games, while at the house music and song told of the enjoyment of the occasion and feasting and refreshments were served throughout the day and night, nearly 100 guests were present from LeMars.

The young people are members of two wealthy and influential families. They were the recipients of an immense amount of handsome and costly presents which they will cherish highly. They will go to housekeeping on a farm which the groom has leased just east of the Becker farm where their hosts of friends will always receive a most cordial welcome.

The out of town relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Niemeyer of Guttenberg, Iowa; and Mrs. Bittner, of Bellevue, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Becker; Mr. and Mrs. Holstein and Miss Schulte of Hartington, Neb.
