James W. Garlin, age 68 of Batesville, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at his home. He was born October 15, 1940 at Batesville, Arkansas to Onis W. and Elizabeth Heathcoat Garlin. He was an equipment operator for Galloway Sand & Gravel Company in Batesville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Southside.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Randall Garlin and a sister Bonnie Jean Burgess.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Tommie Perkey Garlin of the home, three sons, James L. Garlin and wife Debbie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bobby R. Garlin and wife Rita and Terry L. Garlin all of Batesville, one brother Carl D. Garlin of Batesville, two sisters, Earnestine Shadden and Gail Lane both of Dallas, Texas, seven grandchildren, Melissa Reynolds of Drasco, Danny Garlin and Crystal Garlin both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brandon Dayberry of Vilonia, Brandon Garlin, Alisha Garlin and Tyler Garlin all of Batesville, three great grandchildren, Keely Reynolds, Mason Reynolds and Kason Reynolds all of Drasco, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will begin Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church located in Southside with Bro. Kenneth Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located near Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Sharp, Steven Milligan, Micky Sharp, Hank England, Keith Davis, Randall Davis, Jerry Perkey and Vondale Perkey.

Honorary pallbearers are Wayne England, Jason Reynolds, Danny Garlin, Brandon Dayberry, Brandon Garlin, Tyler Garlin, Owen Shaw, Dr. Ron Bates, Dennis Perkey, Jamie Perkey, Mike Perkey and Don Perkey.
