The US 1850 census indicates her married family as residing in 'District 94', Shelby County, Missouri. By the 1860 census 'District 94' had become part of Jackson Township. Martha would reside with her family at their 320 acre homestead in Jackson Township, Shelby County, Missouri, for the rest of her life.
Martha and Charles offered life seven children; sons Charles Edgar Gilcrease/Gilchrist (1848, 1935), Robert Gilcrease (1850, 1852), James Anthony Gilchrist (1854, 1928), Walter D Gilcrease (1858, 1881), Joseph E Gilcrease (1859, 1904), John Glover Gilcrease (1861, 1939) and daughter Mary E Gilcrease (1862, 1862).
Martha's spouse, Charles Greene Gilchrist (b. 1820 - Indiana), passed at the Missouri family residence on December 27, 1872.
Martha continued to reside at the family homestead of Jackson Township, Shelby County, Missouri, while the farm was conducted by two of her sons, Charles E Gilcrease and Joseph E Gilcrease.
Martha passed in Jackson, Shelby County, Missouri, on January 18, 1887, at the age of 67. She is buried in the Gilchrist Cemetery at Shelbina, Shelby County, Missouri.
