She attended Prairie Grove country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Bruning High School in 1954. She received her higher education at Lincoln School of Commerce, Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, and at Ball State University.
On September 3, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Howard L. Hawks, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning, Ne. This union was blessed with two children: Neal Howard and Troy Thomas Hawks, while Timothy Louis Hawks came to live with the family as a foster child in 1969 and was later adopted.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Howard of Omaha, her sons Neal of Dallas, Tim and wife, Rose Marie of Walthill, Troy and wife Heather of Tucson, Az; sister, Betty Yocom of Cozad; brother, Richard Kleen of Deshler, mother-in-law, Leona Hawks of Bruning. Funeral services were held from the Lutheran Church of the Master in Omaha and graveside services were held at Bruning Public Cemetery in Bruning.
