Mary married John Port on July 7, 1828 in Ballinderry by Moneymore, Londonderry Ireland. They had four children: William, Margaret, Eliza Jane and Thomas.
The family emigrated from Ireland sometime after 1836. They came to Fayette County, Indiana where John's father and brothers also settled. John died soon afterwards in 1839.
Mary married a second time to Jacob Troxell, a widower with eight children from his first marriage. They wed on March 27, 1842 in Fayette Co., Indiana. They had one daughter Sarah Ann, who grew up amongst all her older half-brothers and sisters. Mary Jane died soon afterwards.
