Ms. Tracie Evon Mitchell, 37, was born March 27, 1972 in Winston-Salem, NC to Michael Alexander and the late Lillie Mae Mitchell. She was a native and resident of Winston-Salem for most of her life and was a 1991 graduate of North Surry High School where she was the "1st" African American Ms. North Surry High. Spiritually, she was a devoted and working member of Red Bank Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. Tracie loved her church and the work of the church which was evident by the many auxiliaries she worked with endlessly. She was a member of the Senior & Spiritual Choirs; head of the nurses' board; member of the health and fitness awareness group; usher board; and kitchen committee. In her community, she was a member of the Neighborhood Watch group and was employed by Oracle Packaging. Befittingly stated, Tracie loved life. In addition to her mother she was predeceased by her grandparents, Phillip and Nancy Mitchell, and grandmother, Elsie Mitchell. She departed this life Monday May 25, 2009 at the Forsyth Medical Center. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Brianna Mitchell, Isaiah Mitchell and Jailyn Mitchell, all of the home; a sister, Tawana Williams; two nephews, Anthony Williams and Reginald Boyd, III; her father Michael Alexander; aunts, Berta Ingram, Caroline Jordan and Vivian Lowery; uncles, Phillip (Ernestine) Mitchell, Jr., Hector (Ellen) Mitchell and Virgil(Clara) Lowery; devoted cousins, Cotillia Williams, Letrise Forte, Larry Cason, Jr. and Bobby Jordan, Jr.; a devoted friend, Kimberly Bailey; her stepfather, Cephus Dalton; two stepsisters, Katherine Bitting and Nancy Dalton; stepbrother, Adrian Sykes; a host of other relatives and friends including Ernest Holley and the Oracle Packaging Company and the Red Bank Church family. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 2:00pm from Red Bank Baptist Church with Rev. James Clyburn, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Walkertown, NC.
