Major League Baseball Player. On April 19, 1938, he made his debut as a third baseman for the Detroit Tigers. For seven seasons he also played shortstop, second base and outfield for the Detroit Tigers, 1938, 1942 to 1945, Brooklyn Dodgers, 1940 and Cleveland Indians, 1945 to 1946. He ended his career with 390 hits, 12 homeruns, 129 runs scored, 162 runs batted in and a .262 batting average.
