Pvt Edward Stark Jett

Company E, 55th Virginia Infantry, Walker's Brigade, Heth's Division, 3rd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Enlisted on 9/20/1864 at Fort Archer, VA. for the duration of the war, he was mustered into Company E, 55th Virginia Infantry, as a Private.
He was Surrendered on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA.

The 55th Infantry Regiment was organized in September, 1861, by the addition of four companies to W.N. Ward's "Essex and Middlesex" Battalion of Virginia Volunteers. In February, 1865, the 47th and 55th Regiments were consolidated.

The remains of the late Edward S. Jett, seventy years old, a former resident of this city, who died Sunday at his home in Philbrook, District of Columbia, were brought to this
city this afternoon, and interred in Bethel Cemetery.
Five sons, beside the widow, Mrs. Letitia A. Jett, survive the deceased: Frank, Edward, Charles, Herbert, and Bernard Jett.
