Major League Baseball Player. He played center field for the Cincinnati Reds from 1937 to 1942. During his six-year major league career he averaged .253 and batted in 267 runs. He was manager of the Kansas City A's from 1957 to 1959. He managed the Chicago Cubs in 1961 and the Houston Colt 45's from 1962 to 1964.
