The second child of John and Kiziah Briggs Robertson.
William Rufus and Mary Selina Austin were married November 28, 1848, by J.P. Rose. They had nine children.
William Rufus was a farmer and the largest dealer in shorthorn cattle in S.W. MO. He traveled to Kentucky and Tennessee to purchase stock.
He supported the Union during the Civil War working in the Quartermaster's Office. He ran a general merchandizing business in Springfield under the name of Robertson and Mason from 1863 to 1870. He was an investor in the Metropolitan Hotel in Springfield (picture attached) and the Crescent in Eureka Springs, Ar.

His second wife was Martha (Mat) Mitchell Bowlin. They were married on April 4, 1869, and divorced June 12, 1875.
No children from this union.

Wlliam Rufus and Mollie Alexander were married March 20, 1877, at Cave Springs, Mo., by Christian Church Minister, E.M. Holbert. Three sons were born to this union.

William Rufus was the brother of Elizabeth Jane Robertson McQuigg. FAG#16026501.
