Jerry Wilbert Maple, of Hopewell, VA, died at the John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, VA. A native of Prince George County, VA, he was a member of the Mount Hope Baptist Church, 10300 Lawyers Road, Prince George, VA. When Jerry moved to Hopewell, VA, he became very active in the city of Hopewell volunteering services to the John Randolph Nursing Home. During this period, his mother lived in the facility as a resident which motivated him to help other residents. He received many awards for his volunteer work at the nursing home. Some of the awards were Volunteer of the Year, Induction into the Hopewell Community Center's Hall of Fame, and he received the First Humanitarian Award (1995). As a member of Mount Hope Baptist church, Jerry was very active supporting the church and contributing his culinary skills to the Men Fellowship Breakfast. His dedication and love for work was truly displayed as an employee of the Ford Agency, Inc. for over 40 years.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday June 11, 2009 at the chapel of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell, VA. Interment in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Prince George County, VA.
