Loving husband of 1st wife, Alice B.(Sanborn)whom he married October 21, 1873. From this marriage, Alice(Bagrie), DeWitt Clinton and Louise Rockwell(Hanson)were born. 2nd wife, Eleanor B.(Richardson)whom he married April 22, 1911. From this marriage William Glover Gage Jr. and daughter, Bert Ellen were born. Son of DeWitt C. and Catherine(Glover)Gage. Brother of James D. and Henry T. William had been employed as a lawyer. Also a Civil War Veteran.
In his retirement papers (applying for pension) said he was a schoolboy of not quite 16. He was told that they'd give him a bounty for joining the service. He rode with the 7th Calvary in the US Civil War (with Custer) and had a horse shot from under him.
