Ackerman, Benjamin H. Benjamin H. Ackerman of West Newton, Pennsylvania, died suddenly at his home at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening September 24, 1956. He was 74 years old. He was an active member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former Donora Councilman. He had been working in his yard prior to his death and complained of being overheated and shortly after died. He was a son of the late Herman and Mary Niesz Ackerman. He was born November 9, 1881, at Monroefield, Ohio, Monroe County. He went to Donora from Ohio in 1907 and lived there until 1944 when he moved to West Newton, Pennsylvania. He had been retired from 35 years service as a supervisor in the Structural Iron Department at Donora Steel and Wire Works. He is survived by his wife, Anna C. Ludwig Ackerman, one son, Arthur B. Ackerman whose property adjoins his late fathers, one brother, Henry Ackerman, two sisters, Tillie Seebaugh, and Clara Christman, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, September 27, 1956, at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Alex L. Black officiating. Interment was in the Mon Valley Memorial Park at Donora, Pennsylvania.
