Commissary Sergeant, Company K, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Promoted to Sergeant, date unknown. Regimental roster says he was wounded at Hanover Courthouse, Virginia, on May 31, 1864. However, the actual date of his wounding (gunshot wound to the shoulder) is October 11, 1863, at Brandy Station, Virginia. At war's end the 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry and 22nd Pennsylvania Cavalry were consolidated to form the 3rd Pennsylvania Provisional Cavalry. He was mustered out with Company H, 3rd Provisional Cavalry on October 31, 1865.
