June 29, 1881 - Storm Lake Pilot - On last Wednesday night, as briefly announced in The Pilot last week, Mrs. Burk, landlady of the City Hotel, expired about 11:30 P.M.
Mr. Burk was aroused from his sleep by the heavy breathing and gasping of his wife. He immediately summoned Dr. L.J. Harvey, who was at the hotel, but all efforts to save the life of the lady were useless. She expired in about ten minutes, her death being caused by a stroke of apoplexy.
The funeral services were delayed, a waiting the arrival of a son from Missouri. On Saturday afternoon the services were held at the Methodist Church, Rev. T.M. Williams, officiating, assisted by Revs. Cooke and Boswell.
The deceased leaves a loving husband and several matured sons and a daughter. The family have the sympathy and condolence of the entire community.
