3/2/1995- The Purcell Register:

Funeral services for George Plavchak, 75, of Lexington, were held Monday, Feb 26, at St John the Baptist Catholic church in Lexington. Father William Ross officiated, with interment in the Lexington Catholic cemetery under direction of Wadley's Funeral Service. Mr Plavchak died Feb 23 at the Lexington Nursing Home.

He was born 11/29/1919 to John & Mary Plavchak at Clairton, Penn. He had lived in Lexington for the past 50 years, coming from Pennsylvania, where he was reared and attended school in Clairton. On 6/6/1942, he was inducted into the Army at Pennsylvania. During his enlistment, he specialized in airplane maintenance and repair. He received the American Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On 11/15/1945, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant at Andrews Field in Washington, D.C.

On 9/21/1944, George & Bettye June Hooper were married in Oklahoma City. He was employed at Tinker Air Force Base as a Test Cell Supervisor until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of St John the Baptist church in Lexington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bettye June of 49 years, 6/27/1993, 3 sons, James, John and Hoe, 1 brother, Johnny, and 1 grandson, George Richard Plavchak Jr.

Survivors include 2 sons, Richard & wife Vickey and Steve & wife Brenda, all of Lexington, 2 daughters, Mary Black & husband Terry of Lexington and JoAnn Corn & husband Paul of Norman, 2 brothers, Edward of Elizabeth, Penn., and Steve of Monagahela, Penn., 2 sisters, Irene Heffner of McKeesport, Penn., and Margaret Zaken of Elizabeth, Penn., 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Terry Mark Black, Greg Plavchak, John Howell, Errin Black, Johnny Parks, and Ron Kaminski.
