Mr. Bemis, who had been engaged in the harness business at Lu Verne for years before moving to South Dakota, was in comfortable circumstances.

His widow survives him. A number of Lu Verne people attended the funeral and the business men of the town sent a large and handsome floral design.

March 9, 1917 - Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Charmay D. Bemis was horn in DeKalb County, Illinois on November, 10, 1869. He departed this life February 28, 1917, being 57 years, 3 months, and 18 days old

When he was ten years of age he came with his parents to Sac County, Iowa, where most of his boyhood days were spent. On December 25, 1884 he was united in marriage to Clara B Lockwood. More than 32 years of Happy devoted and loving companionship was theirs.

Mr and Mrs Bemis lived in Buena Vista, Ia, until 19 years ago, when they moved to LuVerne, Iowa, where Mr Bemis engaged in toe harness business. In September 1915, in order to be near his brothers and to secure a small farm where his health might be regained, he moved to Flandreau, South Dakota. Here he built a comfortable home. He had only moved into the new home when sickness compelled him to go to Lincoln, Nebr. for treatment. He stayed there for four months, then returned to Flandreau where he awaited the final summons. Quietly, patiently, and heroically he battled with his disease until the final departure

He leaves his wife, Mrs Clara Bemis of Flandreau, S.D., and two brothers: I.N. Bemis of Flandreau, S.D., and Aaron Bemis of Flandreau, S.D. Besides these immediate relatives, many other relatives and friends mourn his loss.

The funeral was held from the Methodist church at Storm Lake Rev. W N Diller, pastor of the M.E. church of Flandreau, preaching the funeral sermon.
