SHALLOTTE, NC -- Evelyn Mintz Canady, 89, of Bay Road SW, went to be wi th the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2008 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Ca re Center, Wilmington, NC.

Born in Ash, NC on June 21, 1919 to the late Luther Barden and Mamie Mae C ameron Mintz. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husba nd on December 25, 1977, Raleigh Canady, of 37 years, They were marri ed on October 11, 1940. She was also predeceased by her infant son, Willi am Barden Canady.

Surviving are her son, Arnold Jackson Canady, and wife, Wanda, of Shallot te and two grandchildren, Stacie and Stephen, whom she adored and treasure d; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 4 th in the Old Shallotte Baptist Church by the Rev. Landis Lancaster. Buri al will follow in the Mintz Cemetery.
