Bonnie P. Blevins, 85, of Independence, and formerly of Mouth of Wilson, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. She was the widow of J.C. Blevins.

She was born Dec. 1, 1923 at Mouth of Wilson to Cleve and Fannie Chandler Paisley.

Survivors include a son, the Rev. Ken Blevins and wife, Scarlett of Ivanhoe; one granddaughter, Sheila Stone and husband, Shawn of Longmont, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Cody Osborne and Emma Faith Stone; one half-brother, Fred Paisley of New Bern, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Cleta Paisley of Mouth of Wilson; several nieces and nephews; three step grandchildren, Dennis Hill and wife, Sandy of Volney, Teresa Sells and Tammy Roberts and husband, Kyle, all of Flatridge; three step great-grandchildren, Joey Sells and wife, Stacy of Whitetop, Jon Sells and Jenny Hill, both of Volney.

A funeral was held Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence with the Rev. Charles Starks and the Rev. Bill Shupe officiating. A graveside service was held Thursday, June 4 at Youngs Chapel Cemetery, Mouth of Wilson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Independence Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 607, Independence, Va.; 24348 or Rugby Rescue Squad, 1845 Rugby Road, Mouth of Wilson, Va. 24363.

Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, was in charge of arrangements.
