MRS. BARTON ACUFF

Mrs. Barton Acuff, one of the widely known ladies of Monroe County, died at her home in Ellettsville yesterday morning at 7 o'clock. Death was due to lung fever, a disease she was stricken with less than two weeks ago. Decedent was a faithful member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with which denomination she affiliated in girlhood. She was born in 1830 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Figg, pioneer residents of Monroe county. She was married in 1854 to Barton Acuff and as a result of this union eight children were born, six daughters and two sons, all of whom, including the father and husband, survive her. Mrs. Acuff was an estimable lady held in highest esteem by her acquaintances and noted for her Christian and charitable acts. She was a kind mother and devoted wife and the blow falls heaviest upon the broken family circle. Her youngest son, Warren, is lying at the point of death with the same disease. The funeral occurred from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Ellettsville this afternoon at 2 o'clock and was largely attended, the services being in charge of Rev. Henry Steen of Carrol, Indiana.
