Family Grouping
The following data is extracted from Genealogies of Some Old Families of Concord, Massachusetts and Their Descendants in Part to the Present Generation; edited by Charles Edward Potter; page 90 -

Tilly POTTER (June 14, 1800 - July 7, 1872):
Married Ellen VAN SICKEL (1806-1833*) in 1823.
* Records reflect the death of Eliza Potter, at Erie, PA in December 1831 [Source: First Presbyterian Church, Erie, PA, Church Register #1, 1825-1879].

(3) Known Children with wife Eliza Van Sickel:

Tilly Augustus POTTER, pg 90
03 Mar 1824, Erie, PA - 1857, Location unknown

Louisa Jarvis POTTER, pg 90 (**Death info augmented by findagrave entry)
16 Feb 1828, Erie, PA - **31 Oct 1919, Iowa

Dorcas POTTER, pg 90
16 May 1830, Erie, PA - 21 Jun 1830, Location unknown

Married (2d) Eliza OSMOND or FO[U]LK (1804-1886) in 1832 at Pittsburgh, PA.

Eliza Osmond (or Folk) and Tilly Potter married 05 May 1832 at Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church (now Trinity Cathedral) in Pittsburgh, PA [Source: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Marriages (1803-1867); Records first extracted in 1938 by the PA Society of Colonial Dames of America; Authors: Bob and Mary Closson; page 27].

This seems to have been the second marriage for both as the Death Certificate of their son, Devolco C. Potter, reflects a maiden name of Eliza "Harness." [NOTE: one of Devolco's Obituaries describes him as the Grandson of John Foulk, making Eliza's maiden name FOULK.] It is possible that this was a third marriage for Eliza Harness, which would explain her two last names (Osmond or Folk/ Foulk).

Apparently, both of Tilly's wives had the first name, Eliza. It appears the first name for Tilly's first wife ("Ellen" Vansickle) and date of her death (1833) as well as the date of his second marriage to "Mrs. Eliza Foulk" (1835) as reported in the book, Genealogies of Some Old Families of Concord, Massachusetts and Their Descendants in Part to the Present Generation; edited by Charles Edward Potter; page 90, are in error.

(2) Known Children with wife Eliza Harness Osmond Fo[u]lk:

Devolco C. POTTER
(1832 - 1911)

Mary E. POTTER (by Adoption) [Source: Genealogies of Some Old Families of Concord, Massachusetts and Their Descendants in Part to the Present Generation; edited by Charles Edward Potter; pg 90]
12 Jul 1850* -
* Mary appears in the Tilly Potter household on the 1850 US Census at the reported age of 4, making her birth year approximately 1846.

1830 US FEDERAL CENSUS

The 1830 US Federal Census in Erie Borough, Pennsylvania can be mapped to "TILLAGH" POTTER. The entry for "Tillagh" Potter is the second line on the third full page of the Census ledger for "Borough of Erie."

MALES

5 to under 10 - 1 (Tilly Augustus, 6)

20 to under 30 - 1 (Tilly, 29)

FEMALES

Under 5 - 2 (Louisa, 2 and Dorcas, 1 mo.)

20 to under 30 - 1 (Tilly's wife, Eliza/Ellen Van Sickle, 24)

Total Persons - 5

Note: Tilly was born on 14 June of 1800 and the brief life of his daughter, Dorcas, was between 16 May 1830 - 21 Jun 1830. Therefore, the 1830 US Census for Erie Borough, PA, appears to have been conducted after the birth of Dorcas and before Tilly's 30th birthday, i.e. 16 May 1830 - 13 Jun 1830.
