The subject of this sketch, Harry C. Gearhart, departed this life July 6, 1910. Deceased was born in Yeagertown, December 24, 1883, and spent his entire life in this village. Harry was favorably known by everybody. Although in delicate health for some years yet he was always ready to perform any errands or do a kind act. He carried the mail for a number of families and was always prompt and reliable. Since the death of his mother, June 19, 1906, he had been under special care of this only sister, Mrs. Ella Stroup, who spared no pains for his comfort and happiness. During the latter part of June while with his sister at the home of her husband's parents near Kishacoquillas, he was stricken with appendicitis, which resulted in his death. His remains were brought to Yeagertown to the home of his aunt Mrs. Emanuel Gearhart, on Main Street, where funeral services were held, conducted by Rev. A.H. Spangler, D.D., of the Lutheran church, assisted by Rev. D.D. Kauffman, the M.E. (Methodist Episcopal) church. The large concourse of friends who attended the services and the abundance if beautiful flowers that covered his casket were visible tokens of the high esteem in which Harry was held in this community. He will not only be missed by his immediate family circle, but by the many friends and neighbors and the Lutheran Sunday school feels the loss of one its most regular attendants, Although just in years of manhood, God has called him home and while we express our sincerest sympathy we calmly say "Thy will be done." Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery, Sunday morning, July 10th.
