The journey of her family from Ramah, New Mexico to Cannonville, Utah brought flight of her spirit which released her from further earthly experiences. Shortly after the family made it across the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry, Zella quickly became ill. Her mother prior to leaving Ramah knew a child would no longer be with them in the process of the journey and felt they should not go.

Even the event of the small miracle which brought her grandparents with a buggy from Cannonville to meet them on the road was not enough to detain her spirit. Though rescued from the slow trip with the wagons and cattle, being whisked away with her mother to Cannonville, hours after her father and the other children arrived ~ Zella's spirit left her mortal experience behind as she took flight for her heavenly home.
