Claude R. Hanks, 82 of Route 9, died at 12:352 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital after being in the hospital three weeks. He had been ill for six months.
Mr. Hanks, a resident of Decatur all his life, was a retired farmer and a trustee of Sharon & Spangler Cemetery. He was a former road commissioner of Harristown Township.
He was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
He was a son of Seth and Susan Bradshaw Hanks. He was born in Decatur on March 10, 1883.
On Oct. 16, 1906 he was married to Marie McCromick (McCormick) in Springfield.
Survivors include his wife; Decatur; five sons, T. R., Decatur; V. W., Decatur; John F., Durango, Colo.; Leo J. Wilmington, Del.; Shirley, Farmington, N. M.; two sisters, Mable Garriott, Oreana; Ina Crossman, Harristown; one brother, Birgil(Virgil), St. Petersburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
