ASH, NC – Mrs. Lillian Smith 86, of Route 1 Box 153-A, Ash, NC died Saturday evening May 3, 1986 in the Century Care Nursing Home, Whiteville, NC, following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Brunswick County, on July 30 1899, the daughter of the late Wm. Allen and Carrie Jane Carlisle Smith. She was a member of the Ash Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, William Hardy Smith of Ash, four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Babson, Mrs. Arnesia Fairchild and Mrs. Ruby Stephens all of Ash and Mrs. Lena Mae Buffkin of Shallotte, three brothers Corb Smith of Ash, J.W. Smith of Bladenboro and the Rev. L.O. Smith of St. Pauls, N.C., two sisters, Mrs. Aultie King and Mrs. Dorothy Long both of Ash, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 6 1986 in the Chapel of Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Supply, NC, with the Rev Leland Etheridge and the Rev. Garland Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Ash, NC. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Monday evening at the Funeral Home. Active Casket bearers will be; Wm. S Smith, Frankie M Stephens, David Earl Buffkin, James Buffkin, JB Smith and Paul Smith. Honorary casket bearers will be the staff of Century Care, Whiteville, NC A Coble Ward-Smith Service, Supply, NC.
