Son of Jacob Sobiech and Frances Pyla Sobiech.

Stephen, whose parent's resided at 920 Elm Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Sergeant with the 4th Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He "Died Of Wounds" received on the attack of Iwo Jima during the war.

He had served in the Marines for two years and six months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.

His brother, Seaman First Class Adam Jacob Sobiech, also gave his life for his country during the war.
