Harold served as a Private, Battery C, 197th Coast Artillery Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Cheshire County, New Hampshire and was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on September 16, 1940, prior to the war, from Keene, New Hampshire. He was noted, at that time, as being employed in a sawmill and also as Single, without dependents.

Harold died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident in Australia during the war.

He was originally interred in the Ipswich USAF Cemetery, Brisbane, Australia and was later repatriated here on January 24, 1949.
