Maude Hunter Bennett, 81, Lakeview, died Tuesday at her Lakeview residence.

She was born in Cedar City, Utah, the daughter of George W. and Jane Williams Hunter.

She married Erle Bennett at Cedar City Oct. 25, 1924. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1954.

The couple lived in Los Angeles and Klamath Falls before moving to Lakeview in 1928. Mrs. Bennett had been a memer and past president of the Lakeview Soroptomist Club. She had been active in the Lake District Hospital Auxiliary. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Bennett helped establish four separate retail busineses in Lakeview.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Clause, Lakeview; son, Rob Bennett, Lakeview; grandchildren, Doug and Jim Clause, Lakeview, Craig Clause, Bly, Gail Newman, Lakeview, Kathy Ashford, Lakeview, and Scott Bennett, Medford; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cath Merryweather and Gwen Beal, both Cedar City, Utah; many nieces and nephews.
