Visitation for Ron R. McCormick, 73, of Forsyth, will be from 6-8 p.m. June 9, 2009, at Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home in Forsyth. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. June 10, 2009, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield.
He died June 1, 2009, at Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson.
He was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Springfield, to Cecil Ray and Dora Alma Whitlock McCormick. He graduated Greenwood High School in Springfield. He attended University of Missouri, and Missouri State and Drury universities. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve during the Vietnam era. In 1959, he married Glenda Bennett in Forsyth. He was a foreman at Frisco Railroad and co-owned and operated three Dairy Queens and Southwest Missouri Insurance and Real Estate Agency until retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites, Eastern Star and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple and B.P.O.E.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; son, Ronnie Ray McCormick Jr., and wife, Lisa Marie, of Stillwater, Okla.,; daughters, Kristi McCormick, of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; Shellie Mitchell, and husband, Wil, of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
