Ona Marie [Sims] Giggy, Springfield, died at 12:43 p.m. Friday, September 2, 1994, in St. John's Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Giggy was born August 1, 1915 in Iola, Kansas to Thomas and Mary Olive (Smith) Sims. Mrs. Giggy, a homemaker, was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Esper John Ryals and Bill Giggy; two sisters, Pearl Decker and Doris Feezell; and one great granddaughter.

Ona was a member of Green Thumb Rebekah Lodge #239 until moving to Springfield. She was president of Rebekah State Assembly of Missouri in 1963. She also transferred to Julia #72 Rebekah Lodge in Springfield. She was a member of Greenfield Garden Club for many years, even after moving to Springfield.

She was a former publisher of the Dade County Advocate which was owned by the Ryals family.

She is survived by a son, Fred Ryals, Springfield; a step-son, Larry Giggy, Ash Grove; three daughters, Laura East and Mary Duffy, both of Mount Vernon, and Beverly Sexton, Madras, Oregon; two step-daughters, Norma Dene Vinyard, Sedalia; Ruth Ann Owens, Foose; a brother, Albert Sims, and two sisters, Gladys Way and Hazel Fallwell, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, September 5, 1994, in St. Luke Methodist Church with the Rev. McFarland and Amy Beth Turner officiating. Graveside services followed in Greenfield Cemetery under direction of Thieme, a Heritage Funeral Home.

Visitation and tribute was held of 3 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
